A self-taught cook and sommelière for many years, Janaina Rueda was born and raised in downtown São Paulo. She spent her childhood in the neighborhood of Mooca, and adolescence in Bixiga. Under the influence of her mother, who worked at the former Hipopotamus and Gallery, her cuisine recovers the bohemian food of São Paulo. She was also trained by ABS and worked as a consultant for Pernod Ricard wines. She married chef Jefferson Rueda, her mentor, who helped to professionalize her cuisine, and together they realized their dream of opening Bar da Dona Onça in 2008.
